Here is my 2 cents to get free domain names, free hosting and free email accounts. I am sure everyone around here knows about “yourdomain.co.cc” domain which is available for free  and you don’t have to pay $10-$20 like other TLDs. There is a limit of 3 domain names per account and in case if you want to have more, you need to donate $10 and you can have as many as 100 domains for free. Not a bad deal, it works out only 10 cent per domains. Apart from co.cc free domain, you can also get free website hosting. So it is free domain name registration plus free webspace.

It could prove a good options for many individual you maintain their private blog in free blogging platform. And why not, you can have www.yourdomain.co.cc instead of www.yourdomain.xxxxxxxxxx.com.

Why it is good:

• You can have your own identity which is easy to remember for free
• You get complete control on domain (changing nameservers, A record, cName etc)
• You can use it for more personalization in email using Google application for free. Instead of mail ID like yourname@gmail.com or yourname@yahoo.com etc, you can have yourname@yourname.co.cc. Sounds better!!! Isn’t it
• If you host private blog (not monetized), you can always go for free hosting. So you get everything for free (domain + hosting + email accounts). Doesn’t it sound good…

Why you should not consider it :

• A professional webmaster will always avoid co.cc domain because its difficult to get good serps using this extension (this is what everyone says). Though I disagree with this assumption. IN recent time, I have seen this extension sating at number 3 for a very competitive keywords. Just because this extension came in the recent times and all professional webmaster avoided it due to the fact that it is free, it never comes good in ranking and everyone assumes that google is punishing this extension.

Having said this, I do not have a proof to substantiate the fact that Google loves co.cc domain equal to .com. So to a new webmaster, I will advise to use .com only for peace of mind.

Why professional webmaster should consider this extension

• If you want to use this as a parked domain and monetize it with Google adsense, why not to test it? After all its free for you
• Still there are plenty of good domains available for you to pick up
• If you are a affiliate marketer and need landing page, this could be a very good alternative. Why to waste $10 for landing page, use co.cc domain instead.
